Maurizio Najt was born
in Milan Italy
and raised in Argentina
where he studied piano and composition at the Conservatorio Nacional de
Música in Buenos Aires.
He has developed a unique style which combines his interest in folkloric music,
classical music, jazz and tango. He is an accomplished musician, arranger
and composer as well as organist. Maurizio has played with some of the
best tango musicians all over the world from Europe, South
America, Russia
and even Japan.
He is currently a member of the Tony-award winning production of Luis
Bravo’s Forever Tango and tours with international tango singer Anna
Saeki. Maurizio recently recorded his own arrangement of the
tango “Donde estas corazon?” for the newest release from
Academy-Award winning director Ang Lee, “Lust, Caution,” in theaters
for Fall 2007.
Pianist with the acclaimed New York Tango Trio,
Maurizio has performed with master bandoneonists such as Raul Jaurena, Tito
Castro, Alberto Quiroga, David Alsina, Daniel Diaz, Hector del Curto and Victor
Lavallen. As a composer, he has written music for short films,
documentaries and off-Broadway musical theater including Don Quixxxote, which
was nominated for an ACE award in 2002.
In January 2005, he co-produced and directed the
tango show “Crónicas de Buenos Aires” in Chicago, a multimedia and educational review
of the history and evolution of the art of Argentine Tango both in music and
dance.
